PEOPLE PROTECTED IPL
Hey, the boards have decided to conduct IPL 2 outside the nation.
Which is of prime importance for us now, cricket or elections?
The elections, of course.
Then why do we cry for conducting this ball and bat game at a time when the nation faces another election?
India is the biggest democracy in the world with over 50 eventful years of independence and over one billion people to share its bliss and baggage. The elections run this democracy and all our national security apparatus should work together to safeguard this holy gamble.
And what about cricket, which is just a game? Why should it be protected with loaded, pointed guns?
You have the answer. Our recent memory has Mumbai, Karachi and a blood stained string of death and fury.
But our doubt lingers on.
Only 0.01% of our population is supporting terrorism and those who are active among them might be even lesser. Or just leave this national arithmetic. The total number of terrorists across the globe won’t make even 5% of Indian population. Still we are not capable of conducting a game the majority of us wants to enjoy.
Why should we wake up for this stupid game? Because it’s not just for the game, dear friends. But for a great nation’s pride. For its future. And economy.
Let’s begin with what IPL is:
• The biggest entertainment package in the country
• The perfect blend of game and stardom
• BCCI’s most prestigious event
• An event which even other boards of cricket like the English want to copy
• Highest investment grabbing package
• The event with maximum local and foreign investment
Ok, these are just some features of IPL. Let’s forget all losses to be suffered by BCCI. After all it is just a private body. But we can go through some possible situation to which the IPL shifting can drag us to.
• The Indian image abroad: Whether we wish or not, India is also getting enlisted among the terror-stricken, unsafe countries of the world. Let’s argue that this is just a matter of time and the elections are the only reason for exporting the tournament. But deep inside, it’s a matter of safety and security. The nation will slip in its grades as Pakistan, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh did.
• The market drive: The whole economy depends on investment. But who will dare to invest in a terror-hit land?
• The probability of neo invasion: Don’t you think that India’s global image of a terror-hit nation will open doors to invaders disguised as global police?
• World after financial crisis: Earlier top notch nations dumped their outsourcing and other non productive works to countries like India with a dusting eye trick of development and made us answer their product queries and manage the accounts at a very cheaper price. But after the recession, the story has changed. Barak Obama has underlined the point that the biggest crisis faced by U.S today is unemployment and people will be happy even with BPO work. This should be counted as a call back signal for the sectors like outsourcing. You can open a BPO in Afghanistan or Taliban at a much cheaper price than that it costs you in India. But do you ever dream of opening one there? Enlisting India into the list of such nations can certainly help in taking a lot back.
• Other games can also be at the receiving end. The latest news says that the England tennis team has stepped out of the tournament to be held in India. People have already started fearing of coming to this country.
What is the remedy?
You are the only remedy, my friend. You.
Terrorists are also humans. They hide inside us, flash out and vanish back. No army has been successful in preventing these masked opponents.
But you can.
It is time for the individual revolution. Let’s wake up. Let’s all wake up. We got the power. The power of unity and it is bigger than any other in the whole world. So let’s unite and lead the war, lead the nation and lead the world. Come; let’s join hands for the PEOPLE PROTECTED IPL.
